The Chouaib Doukkali University (UCD) in El Jadida, Morocco was founded in 1985, as a public institution of higher education and scientific research. At present, UCD has 8 faculties and Institutes, with more than 720 teachers, 270 administrators, and 28 770 students. In terms of research, the University has established two centers for doctoral studies, with 25 laboratories involving 82 research teams. Research activities grow from a reflection that takes into account the economic and social needs and regional specificities. UCD implements its policy research, in consultation with the scientific community at the University and in harmony with the socio-economic potential. With more than 10500 students, 312 teachers, 88 administrators, the Faculty of Sciences is the largest and most dynamic component of the university. The Geosciences & Remote Sensing Group is a unit of training and research on topics of sciences of geo-information, residing at the Faculty of Sciences and reattached to the National Centre for Scientific and Technical Research (URAC_45). It is active through its research activities in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS focused in Environmental Monitoring. The Geosciences & Remote Sensing Group has participated in various research projects, providing scientific expertise and services to the above scientific areas.
