The centenary Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) is one of the three top universities in Brazil. The Institute of Economics is the academic unity responsible for undergraduate and graduate studies and research in the field of Economics. One of the main characteristics of the Instituto de Economia’s academic activities is the critical and pluralist vocation, which is reflected in the wide range of theoretical affiliations of its professors. The graduate activities are organized in three different PhD and Master programs with a strong tradition in interdisciplinary approaches to Economics, to Public policy and to International political economy.
